RIVERVIEW FUNERAL HOME BY HALVEY CELEBRATES 85 YEARS OF SERVING SOUTHERN DUTCHESS FAMILIES
The 85-year-old business commemorates a rich history of compassion, dedication and excellence Beacon, NY – April 23, 2018 – Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, a local Beacon, NY business founded in 1933, celebrates 85 years of serving families throughout Southern Dutchess County. In 1933, John J. Halvey, founded the Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon, NY. Now 85 years, three locations and thousands of families later, the funeral home is commemorating its rich local history.
“We are honored to have served the Beacon community for the past 85 years,” said Patrick Halvey, President of Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey. “My grandfather, John J. Halvey and his predecessor, my father, Peter T. Halvey were incredibly committed to this community. They anticipated the needs of all families and recognized the responsibility to provide the finest service under any circumstances. This business was built on compassion and dedication we will continue to follow those principles into our next 85 years.”
In 1933, John J. Halvey, founded the Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon, NY at a time when family memorial gatherings traditionally took place in the private home. John was one of the first in the area to establish a separate funeral home to conduct services. In 1953, John relocated the Halvey Funeral Home to 24 Willow Street in Beacon to better serve the growing community’s needs. In 1990, his son Peter T. Halvey assumed the leadership role upon John’s passing and served the community in that location until 2017.
The funeral home, which moved from 24 Willow Street to 2 Beekman Street in November 2017, is now one of the largest in the Hudson Valley. The facility has been fully rebuilt with a substantial patio, two spacious services rooms and endless views of the Hudson River. While maintaining a classic traditional style cohesive with the existing neighborhood, the new facility is a modern, 100% handicap accessible building with plenty of onsite parking.
